Kitchen removal – Order of work

When it comes to refitting your kitchen with a new one, there is an order in which things should be done, which I have highlighted below.

  1. Remove the wall units, but by doing this first, you can use the existing worktop and cupboards to rest the heavy units on while working.
  2. Remove the sink, ensuring the water has been turned off from the stopcock under the sink and the boiler. Make sure any water in the system is drained by turning the taps on and waiting for the running water to stop.
  3. Take the worktop off the base units, ensuring that any pipes running behind or under the worktop are avoided.
  4. Remove the base units, again ensuring that any pipes are not damaged in the process.
  5. Chip off any tiles with a hammer and chisel.  If you are working near a power socket, we suggest turning the power off.  Also, remember to wear safety goggles.
  6. Remove the flooring
